Biographical or Historical Information

The Glade United Methodist Church had its beginnings in the Solomon Valley Circuit in 1874. The church was chartered in 1880. In 1881 the Solomon Valley Circuit became known as Marvin. The town name changed to Glade in 1891 (The United Methodist Church, Glade, Kansas Centennial Directory 1874-1974.). The records of the Marvin Methodist Episcopal Sunday School in this collection begin in 1898. On February 18, 2018 the congregation voted to close Glade United Methodist Church. A resolution passed at the 2018 Great Plains Annual Conference that declared the church closed as of June 30, 2018. Undesignated memberships were to be transferred to Phillipsburg United Methodist Church.
