Biographical or Historical Information

The materials were donated by Mrs. Frankie Gassert of Wichita, Kansas, and apparently belonged to her grandmother, Mollie Latch Steelman of Arkansas. Steelman was of Cherokee descent; her family reportedly settled in Arkansas as a result of the Trail of Tears.
