Biographical or Historical Information

James E. Akins was born on October 10, 1951, in Garden City, Kansas. He attended Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) in Emporia, Kansas; he then attended seminary at St. Paul School of Theology. He was ordained deacon in 1980 and ordained Elder in 1986. Rev. Akins served in the following charges: 1981-1987, Bucklin/Ford 1988, Kiowa Parrish, Greensburg 1991, Concordia, First UMC 1993-1995, Phillipsburg 1996, transferred to Kansas West Conference (July 1) According to a 2018 listing on the Great Plains Conference website, he is currently serving at Frankfort UMC in Frankfort, Kansas.
