Elmer Monahan's journals from his expedition to Idaho are held in this collection. There are detailed records of the bird specimens he collected in both of them.

Biographical or Historical Information

Elmer P. Monahan was born in Wisconsin and was a professor of zoology at Baker University in the early 20th century. In 1907, with permission from Idaho's game warden, he and Baker student W.D. Green traveled on horseback to retrieve specimens of birds, plants and other animals.
