Biographical or Historical Information

Coal Creek UMC began as a stop on a circuit within the Evangelical Association's Holton District in the late 1800s. Meeting minutes from the Atchison Circuit, which included Coal Creek, Camp Creek, and Wolf River congregations, date back to 1880 and are contained in this collection. Later, a building was constructed, and Coal Creek was removed from the circuit and became its own appointment. The merging of the Evangelical United Brethren with the Methodists in 1968 led to the creation of Coal Creek UMC.
