Biographical or Historical Information

Kansas City's Stephens United Methodist Church held its first service in 1920. The church has had a few name changes through the years. It was called Peoples Methodist Protestant Church for a short time. The name was changed to University Methodist Protestant Church in 1921,and Stephens Memorial Methodist Protestant in 1927. In 1994 the church moved to Piper, dropped "Memorial" from its name, and became Stephens United Methodist Church. The church was discontinued on June 2, 2004. Remaining members formed Piper United Methodist Fellowship, which closed in 2006. -from Stephens United Methodist Church Membership Book, March 1986-July 2004
