Biographical or Historical Information
John Vance Albright was born on July 29, 1926, in Emporia, Kansas; he attended high school in El Dorado and graduated with an A.B. from Baker University in 1951. He attended the Pacific School of Religion 1951-1955, where he received his M. A. and B. D.
He married on June 16, 1946, to Lois Jean Creel (born April 8, 1926). They were the parents of five children: Lois Jean (born Nov. 22, 1949), John Vance (Jack) (October 13, 1952), Elizabeth Joy (December 26, 1950), Mary Carol (January 4, 1955), and Valera Janettte (August 6, 1958).
Rev. Albright received his Local Preacher's License December 8, 1948, and spent two years (1949 and 1950) on the Melvern-Rosemont charge. He was received on trial (1951) and received into Full Communion and ordained Deacon June 5, 1955, in the Kansas Conference. He received his B.D. and M.A. degrees from Pacific School of Religion in 1955 and was ordained Elder June 10, 1956.
