Biographical or Historical Information
A. Raymond Anderson was born at Ardmore, Oklahoma, on January 29, 1921. He attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving his B. A. in 1943, and also earned a B.D. from the University of Chicago in 1946.
He married Gayle McCorkle in February, 1942. Their son Arick Raymond was born July 11, 1951.
Rev. Anderson entered into full connection with the West Oklahoma Conference and was ordained Deacon in June 1949. He was ordained Elder one year later.
His appointments in Oklahoma included Detroit Conference Youth Director (1948-1949); Wesley Foundation Director, Norman, Oklahoma (1949-1951); Second Church, Oklahoma City (1951-1952); and Minister to Students, Pittsburg, Kansas (1952).
He transferred to the Kansas Conference on June 1, 1952. He continued as Minister to Students, Pittsburg, Kansas (1953-1954), then served at Arcadia-Garland (1955).
Rev. Anderson withdrew from the conference through voluntary location on June 8, 1956. He was readmitted and then was honorably dismissed at his own request from the Kansas Conference on June 9, 1961.
