Biographical or Historical Information

As of this writing (2018), little is known about Isaac L. Alcock. The collection contains only a recommendation for admission to South Kansas Conference of the M.E.C. (1909) and his grade card for two years of study. Alcock is listed in the Official Minutes of the South Kansas Conference (1909, page 10) under the question "Who have been received on trial?" and in 1910 (page 7) under the question "Who have been continued on trial?" In the 1910 minutes he is listed (as "I. L. Alcock") as being appointed to the Independence Circuit in Independence District. In the 1911 minutes, he is listed under "In Studies of the Second Year," but he does not appear to be listed in the Appointments section. In 1912 he is mentioned (page 7) under Question 8 as follows: "Isaac L. Alcock was continued in the studies of the second year, and the Bishop requested to leave him without appointment to attend one of our schools." In the 1913 minutes (page 14) he is mentioned as follows: "On motion of A. S. Freed, Isaac L. Alcock was discontinued at his own request." Pending further discoveries, it is tentatively concluded that Alcock was admitted on trial in 1909 and was appointed in 1910 to preach on the Independence (Kansas) circuit while attending classes. He returned to non-appointment status to attend school for another year of school before discontinuing his studies.
