Biographical or Historical Information

Alan Max Anderson was born February 6, 1924, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Alfred Thomas and Mildred Alberta (Swan) Anderson. He attended Fargo High School, then North Dakota Agricultural College (one year) and Utah State Agricultural College (4 years). He graduated in 1950, receiving a B.S. in Forestry (Timber Management). He also attended Iliff School of Theology, then took the conference course of study for one term. Records indicate that he served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Corinne LaVerne Clawson on May 31, 1951. Their children were Steven William (born 1952) and Mark David (born 1955). Rev. Anderson was first given a local preacher’s license in 1946. He served as a supply pastor in Colorado Conference for a year. He was received on trial in the Central Kansas Conference in October 1955 and was ordained Deacon in October 1956. In Kansas, he was appointed to Morland/Penokee/Studley in 1955, and in Luray-Lucas in 1956. He was discontinued on trial, at his own request, in August 1957. He died in 1987 and is buried at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Anneville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

This collection contains information on Rev. Alan Max Anderson, who served charges in Colorado and in the Central Kansas Conference before voluntarily discontinuing his conference relations in 1957.
