Biographical or Historical Information
William R. Allen was born in Indiana in 1842 and began his ministry in the Kansas Conference, where he was received on trial in 1880. In 1882, he became a charter member of the Northwest Kansas Conference, where he served until ill health forced him to retire in 1903, after twenty-three years of ministry. His wife, Mary Frances Allen, died in 1924; Rev. Allen died on January 19, 1925, at his home in Oak Grove, Oregon, at the age of 83. He was buried in Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland, Oregon. His memoir can be found in the Northwest Kansas Conference Journal for 1925, page 126.
