Biographical or Historical Information

Louis Napoleon Annadown was born in Sterling, Kansas, on May 23, 1878. He attended Nickerson Normal College (earning a certificate to teach) and also one term at Baker University, Baldwin. (He did not graduate from Baker.) After having held an exhorter’s license for several years, he was granted a license to preach in 1902 from the district conference in Newton, entitling him to do regular supply work. He was admitted on trial to the Southwest Kansas Conference in 1909; he was admitted in full and ordained Deacon in 1911 and ordained Elder in 1913. He was a charter member of the Central Kansas Conference at its founding in 1939. He married Nellie Grant Burgess (1878-1974) on June 20, 1907. Their daughter, Pauline Grace (born 1915) married Chester Guettsche. She died in 1996. Rev. Annadown died December 7, 1963. His memoir appears in the 1964 Central Kansas Conference Journal (page 231). His wife’s memoir appears in the 1974 Kansas West Conference Journal (page 416). They are both buried in the Wildmead Cemetery in Nickerson, Reno County, Kansas.

This collection contains information on Rev. Louis N. Annadown, who served for more than 38 years in the Southwest and Central Kansas Conferences  of the M.E. Church. He was a charter member of the Central Kansas Conference at its founding in 1939.
