Biographical or Historical Information

He attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College, receiving a three-year Bible Diploma in 1939. At Marion College (Marion, Indiana),he received his Th.B. (1940), A.B. (1942), and M.A. (1942). He also attended Capitol University (Lutheran) in Columbus, Ohio, receiving his B.D. in 1947; his thesis there was titled The Methodist doctrine of personal experience as taught by John Wesley. He was ordained an Elder in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in August, 1940. His appointments in the Wesleyan Methodist Church included Laketon, Indiana (1940-1943) and Westerville, Ohio (1943-1947). He served as a supply minister at the Methodist Church in Delphos, Kansas, from January 1950 to September 1951. During part of this time (1947-1951) he also worked as a teacher in the Theology department at Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Kansas. He spent 1951 through 1956 serving at the Houghton College Church (Wesleyan Methodist, but with 40 denominations represented). He also taught part-time at Houghton from 1951 to 1956. Rev. Angell was admitted to full membership in the Central Kansas Conference on October 7, 1956 (because of his previous work in the conference, the trial period was waived), after which he served at Asbury (Wichita) from 1956 to 1961. He left this appointment on October 8, 1961, to return to the Wesleyan Methodist Church and to serve at Houghton, New York. Rev. Angell died in 1993 and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton, New York.
