Biographical or Historical Information
Edward Gayer Andrews was born in Oneida County, New York, on August 7, 1825. He was educated at Cazenovia Seminary and received his B.A. and M. A. at Wesleyan University. After his ordination in the Central New York Annual Conference, he served various pastorates until his election as Bishop in 1872.
Bishop Andrews presided at the annual South Kansas Conference, held at Fort Scott, Kansas, in 1874; at the annual Kansas Conference in Junction City in 1887; and at the annual Kansas Conference in Atchison in 1896.
He died on December 31, 1907, in Brooklyn, New York, and is buried at Syracuse.
