Biographical or Historical Information
Burl Allison, Jr., was born in Sumner, Lawrence County, Illinois on March 25, 1911, the son of Burl and Perna Diebold Allison.
He attended Augusta (Kans.) High school, graduating in 1929. He attended the El Dorado (Kans.) Junior College for a year, later completing his conference studies in 1960. He married Lois Corinne Schulz (1914-2007) on December 20, 1934; their children were Stephen Burl (1936), George Michel (1939), and Susan Jane (1943).
He was ordained Deacon in the Central Kansas Conference on May 29, 1960, and ordained Elder on May 26, 1963; in that year he is listed as an approved supply pastor. His appointments included Rosalia and Potwin. In the Kansas West Archives records, he was listed in 1970 as a part-time lay pastor.
In addition to his ministerial duties, Rev. Allison was also a historian and the author of Augusta, Kansas, 1868-1990.
He died on September 2, 2007, at the age of 96, and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, Butler County, Kansas. He is buried at the side of his wife Lois, who predeceased him in May of that same year.
