Biographical / Historical

Ulysses Grant Cochran was born on a farm in Selma, North Rich Township, Anderson County, Kansas in 1885. He attended school in nearby Kincaid and enrolled in Baker University's commercial course in 1904. Toward the end of his year at Baker he became ill. After several stays in what he hoped would be more hospitable locations, Cochran accepted a teaching position at Woodson County High School. Unfortunately, he only held the job for a short time, passing away on November 8, 1906. He is buried in Centerville, Kansas.
